Settlement for teen who fell to his death at orchard central

A teenager fell to his death after jumping from a linkway located between Orchard Central and Orchard Gateway on 24 February this year.

On the day of Jonathan Chow Hua Guang’s tragic incident, Jonathan suggested to his female friend, Ruth, that they should take turns to jump over the 1.2m tall railing of the link bridge.

After jumping over the railing, however, the plasterboard casing platform on which Jonathan landed collapsed, causing him to fall 18m to the ground.

Suffering from serious head injuries, Jonathan was taken to Tan Tock Seng Hospital where he later died.

Shengkai International Law Firm, which acted for the dependents, successfully negotiated an amicable resolution on behalf of the family with Far East Organisation, the owner of Orchard Central. Jonathan’s dependents were represented by our senior lawyer Ms Margaret Neo.
