In a lawsuit against the driver who had crashed into multiple vehicles while travelling in the opposite
direction along AYE last year in December, injured victims Teh Tze Yong and wife Janice Choo have managed to
achieve a settlement on liability in Court.
The driver responsible for the accident, Lim Chai Heng, has now
accepted 100% liability for the accident, which also resulted in the death of one and injury of another.
Teh and his wife were travelling on their motorcycle on their way to work on 19 December 2016 when a
Mercedes-Benz driven by Lim, travelling in the opposite direction, crashed into them at high speed. The
accident caused both parties to suffer from multiple fractures in their limbs. The couple, represented by N.
Srinivasan from Shengkai International Law Firm, sought a combined compensation sum of about $553,000 against Lim. The
driver has since accepted full responsibility for the accident but the exact sum of damages awarded will be
determined later in Court. A criminal case against Lim for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving is
also pending
